The green button locks the doors. The whole thing glows red if any doors are unlocked.

I live in a nice neighborhood. Still - going to sleep with the doors unlocked is no something I like accidentally doing. I got into the habit of going downstairs to double-check nobody left the door open.

I wished I had a little obvious indicator that would say “YOUR DOORS ARE UNLOCKED” and give me a button to lock them. I’d put that on the side of my bed.

So I made one. Turned out to be super easy.

The innards:

I replaced that jumper wire with an actual button, but that was it. I’d never used ESPHome before - but once I got over the very simple initial learning curve (mostly spent trying to figure out how to flash an ESP) - it really couldn’t have been simpler.

Built this about a month ago - it’s worked perfectly thus far.
